Alright, this concept can be traced directly to the Norse myth of Yggdrasil, or the World Tree. In fact, a few Worlds in the setting have names derived from the Nine Realms. However, what defines a separate World from simply another location within it is it's isolation from the other known ones. Currently, it is unknown if there are more than what are listed here.
Midgard: one name taken directly from Norse myth. Essentially, Earth. ... Just... Modern fantasy with hints of steampunk aesthetic. 8I Nothing really outstanding.
Aether: the kingdom in the sky from Jack and the Beanstalk, the realm of the Giants. Unique compared to other Worlds in that technically, many people still consider it a part of Midgard. However, it is classified as another World due to the fact that it is completely, totally and utterly sealed from the surface.
Alfheimr: another name taken from Norse mythology. The realm of the Fair Folk, with Fairies as the ruling class. Magic is so prevalent in this World that it doesn't need casters to affect people. Simply spending enough time in the realm is enough to enhance the lifespan of mortal creatures... And trap them. Because of that overwhelming source of magic, it is the only realm that can be relatively traveled to and from Midgard, though the Fae are territorial.
Wonderland: the realm of dreams. Inhabited by Incubi & Succubi, demons who seduce mortals in their dreams, and their only natural enemies, Sandmen, or apparently human magic users with strong ties to other peoples' minds. Currently the prison of an insanely powerful, though no longer corporeal, Witch known as Tabitha Cheshire. While lucid dreamers can come and go as they wish in their sleep, some mortals have been known to become trapped in the dream... Freeing said prisoners is one of the duties of a Sandman- or woman.
The Afterlife: ... Basically where ya go when ya die. Depending on your choices in life, it could be anything from Nirvana, Heaven, Valhalla, etc. to Hell/the Inferno, Tartarus, or even just mundane reincarnation. And keep in mind, places like the Inferno are punishments, not realms to be ruled. A character who wishes to go there isn't edgy or cool, dangit. Generally, since one has to die to arrive, it's pretty much a one-way trip. |3;

Role-Playing (Chess) Game
Okay, yeah, this has to be my dumbest idea yet but I can't get it out of my head and I think I kind of love it in a stupid way.
Take the goal of a game of chess- one side captures the other side's king- and apply it to an RPG setting.
The heroine, a common rogue named (Player Name,) is consistently referred to as a pawn despite being handed down a quest to slay her queen's mortal enemy. Along the way, she's aided by three heroes: (Insert Name) Bishop, a cleric/healer, (Insert Name) Knight, a mounted warrior, and (Insert Name) Rook, a tank-y fighter in full plate armor.
(alternately the queen figure is a would-be ruler overthrowing the pres
Token Evil
I'm not sure WHAT I'd do with this, but I wound up coming up with an RPG party based around the idea of different types of magic being ultimately neutral, and your alignment depending on what you DO rather than what you ARE.
Fighter: basically an assassin. A bounty hunter of sorts who brings vigilante justice to the dregs of society- would be 'lawful evil' due to their monetary motivations had they not learned that their latest mark was innocent and helped them escape their persecutors. The fighter is wracked with guilt as they start wondering just how many innocent people they've killed after all, and they decide to try and make amends afte
The Necromancer's Apprentice Cast
Just a warning, this list may change as stories are added and cut. The majority of main characters are based on psychopomps, beings that guide souls of the dead- mostly neutral or even good figures. This project came about because I wanted to explore the idea of a morally good necromancer.
Malak-al Maut: otherwise known as the Angels of Death, a group of healers-turned-necromancers formed and led by a man named Azrail in response to a surge of necromantic activity as a result of his apprentice fucking with the dead. All formal members of the group have angelic myth as a source of inspiration, and the organization's symbol is a simple gold c
The Necromancer's Apprentice
So I actually have a few possible stories for this year. I might even make it a regular Hallowe'en thing because dangit, I want to tell these stories.
Commedia dell'Arlecchino
A reaper is deployed to handle a haunting at a local opera house. A commedia dell’arte troupe is being harassed by a spirit calling itself Arlecchino, who seems to have latched itself onto their Colombina player, Olivia.
The Doctor’s Lantern
Unbeknownst to anyone but his wife Mercy, Dr. Mortimer Graves is dying. The healer has been using his own life force to extend the lives of the terminally ill and mortally wounded. This chapter acts as Mortimer’
